Sometimes ’stupid’ is uplifting

I am going to fail to do justice to this thought.
There’s something very reassuring and uplifting about seeing all these people in this video take a moment to just have a bit of pointless, joyful fun. It is uncomplicated and wonderful.

HijiNKS Ensue takes on the stimulus check

Economically Stimulated is a funny comic, but I think the note he claims came with his check is the best part of the post.
“Hey, America! Shut your gaping pie holes and take this ca$h! Go buy a Blu-Ray player or some other worthless shit! Don’t stop to ask WHY the economy’s in the toilet, just [...]

Urine trouble, FedEx

The kit in question is designed to help me collect a full 24-hours worth of pee, and then facilitate the shipping of this pee to a laboratory that will give it a full spectrum analysis.
That’s HOT.
Yes. I know.
I think that the Jug O’Pee is supposed to be returned via FedEx, which pleases me greatly. [...]

Central Washington offers the ultimate act of sportsmanship

ESPN - Central Washington offers the ultimate act of sportsmanship - College Sports
I really do believe that people are basically agreeable, if not outright good, though sometimes I feel like life assails that position. It’s nice to come across an article that supports rather than challenges that position.
Read it, and be reminded that people choose [...]

“But so what?”

That’s the question our friend Katy asked when we were talking about reading Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma and the nature of our food production industry. Don’t get me wrong - it’s a fantastic question. And it’s hard to answer without regurgitating huge sections of the book, and even then it doesn’t necessarily answer the question [...]

Below is a section from about the midpoint in of a Moody’s analyst walking the reporter through evaluating a security representing $430M in subprime mortgages to 2,393 homes in the Southern California area. 75% of the loans are ARMs and 43% lack any written proof of income.

What If Somebody You Know Steals Your Identity? ∞ Get Rich Slowly
This is just a tragic story, and such an interesting subject. In reading it I got to thinking about my conflicting impulses when I consider “what if?” and it made me wonder why I had some of the more sympathetic reactions.
After all, if a [...]

A zombie story

Someone thought it would be fun to get a “blog like it’s the end of the world” collaborative (sorta) project going, where everyone participating blogs all day on the 13th as if there’s been the inevitable zombie uprising. Read from bottom to top, this is one that tells a whole story over the course of [...]

Its Time For Airport Security To Ketchup With Reality (from The Herald )
After all, we pilots are usually the first to arrive at the scene of a crash, and that is a fate we constantly strive to avoid.
A funny and quick read.

Jonathan Coulton gets a lot of face time with the New York Times

There’s a New York Times article on the new way the internet allows musicians to reach out to their audiences. It’s not exclusively about Jonathan Coulton but he’s a big part of it. It’s an interesting read for the Coulton information if you’re a fan and just about the music industry in general.
I noticed - [...]
