From my online statement at USAA.com. Because, you see, I get 0.5% credited back to my account at the end of every month for all the Debit card purchases I make. So to make that money I just spent $898 that I was going to spend anyway, out of a checking account that costs nothing to have and which refunds me up to $10 a month in ATM fees.

Oh woe, you say, you are not in the military or related to someone who is, therefor you cannot join USAA.

Wrong.

If you’re too lazy to read that, just call 1-800-531-2265 and say you want to sign up. They’ll ask a few questions - including if you’re in the military but the answer can be “no” and you’ll still get in - and then they’ll give you an account number and you can sign up the rest of the way on the website.
